Peanut Butter Crunch Skulls
The Story
One of my first projects after joining Vosges was designing packaging for a new seasonal product. Working alongside my art director, I began with pencil sketches to establish the overall composition and creative direction. From there, I explored two illustration styles before developing the final custom artwork.
I illustrated the skull, crow, peanuts, and pumpkins in Procreate, using the app’s symmetry tools to echo a signature visual motif found throughout Vosges’s chocolate bar packaging. I then brought each illustration into Illustrator to build the final composition, including the ornate peanut border inspired by Art Nouveau artist Alphonse Mucha. All linework was created as vector artwork to maintain precise geometry, ensure consistent spacing, and allow for easy separation during the gold foil production process.
Because this product bridges the summer and winter collections—and textiles served as the visual thread connecting those seasonal assortments—the final design challenge was finding a way to carry that concept into the packaging itself. I created a custom plaid pattern using the illustrated ingredient motifs and applied it to the side panels, creating a subtle but cohesive connection between the two collections.
